LOS ANGELES (Monday, February 6, 2006) - A major publicity effort, including PSAs and a web site launch is being kicked off Tuesday in Los Angeles in a last-ditch effort to save thousands of pets made homeless by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Actor Pierce Brosnan and other celebrities appear in pubic service announcements to be released over the next several weeks, promoting a national pet adoption effort in order to make room in shelters for pets still being rescued from the destruction in the Gulf

.

The effort, called "Operation-Save-A-Pet-Katrina.com" -- http://www.operation-save-a-pet-katrina.com/ -- represents a coalition of the nation's largest animal welfare organizations, led by Best Friends Animal Society and supported by 1-800-Save-A-Pet.com.

"Tens of thousands of family pets left homeless by Katrina and Rita are facing hunger, still wandering near their destroyed homes, and have no one to feed or care for them," says Michael Mountain, president of Best Friends Animal Society. "A crucial link in the rescue chain has broken because we have few places around the country left to send these pets, so we need people to adopt any pet from their local shelter to help make more space."

The public is invited to pet adoption websites such as www.1-800-Save-A-Pet.com and www.OperationSaveAPetKatrina.com to promote pet adoption so the rescue efforts can continue.

Media can obtain more information, including b-roll video and print-quality stills of Katrina animal rescue and PSA at http://www.1-800-Save-A-Pet.com/media.

February 19, 2006

Dear Friends:

A warm greeting to you all, this being my second post in 2006, a year which I hope brings us peace, love and joy.

I have recently wrapped principal photography on Seraphim Falls, a period piece set in the post-Civil War era, written and directed by David Von Ancken. I was thus able to shave, at long last, the beard that I was wearing for the role. My wife Keely is elated.

I am off to Vancouver in a few weeks to begin work on Butterfly on a Wheel, a thriller starring Maria Bello and Gerard Butler. Irish DreamTime is also going full steam ahead on The Thomas Crown Affair sequel and we are currently in the planning stages for filming in Europe and New York City.

The Matador has now opened nationwide and I must thank all of you again for your support of this film, it has been a wonderful success for all concerned.

Stay tuned - I hope this year finds that you, my friends, are well and happy, and thanks for logging on.

Love and only love,

22nd of February : Davina McCall chats up former 007 Pierce Brosnan

Pierce & Davina

Hollywood heartthrob Pierce Brosnan reveals how he really feels about letting someone step into his James Bond shoes when he talks to Davina McCall on her new BBC ONE chat show Davina.

And he shares some secrets about his new role as a down and dirty assassin in his new film The Matador.

On being James Bond, Pierce says: "My contract was always to do four movies so I knew that the curtain was going to fall at some point.

"But when the producers moved the goalposts, it did come as a surprise."

When he heard the news that he would no longer be James Bond: "I was in the Bahamas making a film called After the Sunset and my agents called to say that negotiations had stopped.

"I can't say I was sad really, it was just par for the course. You can't let those moments hamper your life."

On whether he would do it again? "I had my day in the sun with that role and I think Daniel Craig will be great."

On his new film in which he plays Julian Noble: "The Matador came along at the perfect time... I did get cold feet one weekend though because I thought it was too much of a sharp left turn.

"There's some quite outrageous dialogue and you're not really sure of Julian's sexuality but we made a few small changes and now I love it."

And on filming The Matador in Mexico: "I had a bodyguard with me at all times when we were filming which I thought was overkill.

"But during the first week of filming one of the crew was mugged right outside the studios. My wife Keely was a bit apprehensive as we all were."
