Dear Friends,

Happy New Year.

I hope you all had a joyous holiday season. This month I’m off to South Africa to begin filming an action / adventure picture called Vanilla Gorilla.

Married Life, an ensemble piece, written and directed by Ira Sachs and starring Christopher Cooper, Rachel McAdams, Patricia Clarkson and myself is due for release this winter. In fall 08, I will return as Thomas Crown, which will be directed by Paul Verhoeven.

For anyone who missed Seraphim Falls, an epic action/thriller set against the backdrop of the American Civil War starring Liam Neeson and myself, it is available on video and DVD.

May 2008 bring you love, adventure, and discovery,

11th of Jan.

Pierce Brosnan is famous for many outstanding film roles in his career.  But the handsome Irish thespian knows his way around a kitchen, too. Brosnan dished about his favorite foods. The actor revealed his comfort food cravings: "Potatoes-baked, mashed, roasted and boiled, or fried with cold sliced tomatoes. I could eat them every night of the week.  I can't live without a good potato.  And Irish soda bread, hot from the oven with lashings of butter." The actor is keenly proactive in areas of conservation and practices green kitchen consciousness.  Brosnan shared his eco-tips with reporter Bekah Wright in the February 2008 issue of Bon Appetit."Compost scraps - from banana peels to coffee grounds - and green waste.  Purchase a turntable composter and start a gree waste pile that can fortify your garden naturally.  Purchase all-natural organic cleansers, recylced paper products, organic cotton, and non GM) (genetically modified organism) food products.Brosnan delights his family with a special treat he whips up for them. "Crepes with Meyer lemon juice and raw brown sugar on Sunday mornings."

Dear Friends,

Happy New Year and may it be a healthy and prosperous one.

The first trailer for "Mamma Mia" is now playing in theaters. It is always a shock to see the work for the first time, even if it is in one-second shots. I hope the pure joy we felt while making the movie shines through.

Since the completion of "Mamma Mia" at the end of summer I have been in Hawaii with my family, making the commute back and forth to Los Angeles for various meetings on future projects. We were present for the first onslaught of terrible fires in Southern California, which were vicious in their speed and assault on so many homes. My sincere thanks to each and every firefighter who risked life and limb to save so many of their fellow Californians lives and homes. And to those who lost their world in a matter of minutes, I send my heartfelt prayers as you move on and rebuild.

Thomas Crown 2 is in full swing with various location scouts completed in Dubai, Berlin, and Istanbul. Paul Verhoeven is set to direct.

Before I set sail with the second installment of TC2..... I'm off to South Africa to make "Vanilla Gorilla," an adventure film about an albino gorilla that has the capacity to speak through sign language. It's the story of a father and daughter who find themselves on an adventure of a lifetime, as they try to restructure their relationship after the loss of their mother / wife. Visit the Gorilla Foundation Website at www.koko.org to find out more about these magnificent animals and in particular “Koko” who learned to speak using sign language. I would like to think that the film, apart from being exciting, funny, and tender, will shed some light on the urgent need for all of us who care about the animal kingdom, to speak out against the senseless slaughter of the great silver backs, the brutal killing of whales, and the mindless butchering of the tigers and elephants. (It is not, mind you, a film that beats you over the head with all of this.)

The script has been written by Craig Gardner and Terry Loane, who will direct. Terry, a fellow Irishman from Belfast, has also made a fantastic feature film about two young boys called "Mickybo and Me" you may wish to see. "Vanilla Gorilla" begins production in mid February.

"Married Life", an ensemble piece, written and directed by Ira Sachs and starring Christopher Cooper, Rachel McAdams, Patricia Clarkson and myself is due for release March 7th.

2008 is a time for change. May it come with grace and dignity, and above all, peace. Here's to more compassion, hard work and the good times ahead.

Love and only love,

Pierce Brosnan's wife applauded for flaunting her curves

http://www.goodtoknow.co.uk/

Pierce Brosnan's American wife Keely Shaye-Smith is being applauded for her fuller figure.

Harriet Olivia – who runs website Too Fat For Fashion – reckons the 43-year-old is brave to put on weight in image-conscious LA.

Less than 10 years ago, journalist Keely was a typical superslim Hollywood wife (left), but she has become more curvaceous (right) after giving birth to sons Dylan, 11, and Paris, 6.

Harriet insists Keely is helping change attitudes towards bigger women.

'Keely isn't the typical Hollywood size zero but she is still gorgeous, intelligent and doing her thing,' Harriet tells the Daily Express.

'She is stylish, unique and very classic. She reminds me of golden age pin-ups like Rita Hayworth and Jane Russell.'

And Keely is also proud of her figure.

'I never shy away from colour or my curves,' she's said in the past. I like to play up my neckline and shoulders. If a jacket is pulling in the bust, I might just move the button an inch. But I never hide in baggy clothing.'

Pierce, 54 – who married second wife Keely in 2001 – has also spoken out about loving his missus whatever her size.

And that's the way it should be.
