Dear friends

Summer Greetings.

Hope wherever you are you are taking some time for yourself and enjoying the sunshine.

I'm currently in London, filming Mamma Mia, which is being directed by Phyllida Lloyd who also directed the original musical stage production in 1999. I saw Mamma Mia in London and New York with my family and found it a joyful experience. Both shows played to packed houses and both casts brought the house down. I’m thrilled to be working with one of America’s most talented and beautiful actresses, Meryl Streep, whose work has always inspired me. Other gifted cast members include: Colin Firth, Stellan Skarsgard, Julie Waters, Christine Baranski, Amanda Seyfried, and Dominic Cooper.

Married Life, an ensemble piece, written and directed by Ira Sachs and starring Christopher Cooper, Rachel McAdams, Patricia Clarkson and myself is due for release this fall. The film was accepted to the Toronto Film Festival and will premiere on September 12th. Married Life is a period piece set in Seattle in 1949, and is a story we can all relate to, one of love and marriage, secrets and sorrows.

For anyone who missed Seraphim Falls, an epic action/thriller set against the backdrop of the American Civil War starring Liam Neeson and myself, it is now available on video and DVD. The film was written and directed by David Von Ancken, and is a visceral study of revenge and the aftermath of war. Shot entirely on location in Taos and Santa Fe, I hope the raw brutality and savage beauty Seraphim Falls will leave you on the edge of your seats.

After completing Mamma Mia, I will be taking a much needed holiday on the Italian and French Riveria.

Stay tuned for more movie news!

Love and only love,

Brosnan heads to Greece

ATHENS (AFP) - James Bond star Pierce Brosnan will swap guns for Abba songs this month when he begins filming a Hollywood version of the hit musical "Mamma Mia" on the Greek island of Skiathos, the show said Wednesday.

The Irish actor's co-star Meryl Streep may also make an appearance when filming begins there and on the neighbouring island of Skopelos on August 29, a production official said on condition of anonymity. The film is hoping to recreate the success of the British musical, created in 1999 using songs by hit Swedish band Abba, for the big screen. The story revolves around a young girl who is about to get married and decides to track down the father she never knew.Brosnan, best known for his slick portrayal of 007, will play -- and sing -- one of her possible dads and Streep will play her mother.Actor Tom Hanks is producing the film, due to be screened next year, and the stage musical's British creator, Phyllida Lloyd, will direct, according to the Hollywood trade press. In anticipation of the stars' arrival, residents of Skopelos have created a blog (www.skopelos07.wordpress.com) dedicated to the film and to promoting the two islands as tourist destinations.Greek authorities have in recent years been promoting the country as a film location.

"Married Life" selectedImage Hosted by ImageShack.us

"Married Life" -- the long-awaited new movie by native Memphian Ira Sachs -- will debut next month at two of the world's most prestigious and commercially advantageous film festivals.

The film -- which stars Pierce Brosnan, Rachel McAdams, Patricia Clarkson and Academy Award-winner Chris Cooper -- is the followup to Sachs' Memphis-made "Forty Shades of Blue," which won the Grand Jury Prize for best American dramatic feature at the 2005 Sundance Film Festival.

"Married Life" will premiere Sept. 12 at the 32nd annual Toronto international Film Festival, Sachs, 41, said in a phone conversation today (Aug. 15) from Colorado, where he is visiting family. The Toronto lineup has yet to be announced officially.

Next, the movie will screen at the 45th New York Film Festival, probably during the opening weekend of the Sept. 28-Oct. 14 event.

The New York lineup was announced today by the Film Society of Lincoln Center, which organizes the festival. The Film Society program describes "Married Life" as a "wonderfully clear-eyed comedy," as well as "a beautifully rendered piece of period Americana and a perfectly acted four-hand roundelay. It is also a wisely comic and at times harrowing look at the pitfalls and pathologies of marriage."

Pierce Brosnan in Vistula & Wolczanka ad campaign

http://www.vistula.com.pl/

Pierce Brosnan has become ambassador of the brands Polish Vistula & Wólczanka and will appear in the newest ad campaign beginning 1 September.

“Choosing Pierce Brosnan for the campaign was intended as a means of creating a luxury brand image”, says Rafał Bauer, Vistula & Wólczanka’s president, quoted in wirtualnemedia.pl..

The ad campaign pictures were taken during a photo shoot in a London studio. Pierce Brosnan was photographed by Robert Wolański, who has been cooperating with the company for the past couple of years. Brosnan wore tailor-made shirts and suits.

There’s a provision in his contract saying that he can keep all the clothes used in the shoots.

The campaign will be very intensive and will include an outdoor element – billboards, bus ads, etc. – as well as catalogues and press ads.

Vistula & Wólczanka latest collection will be shown 6 September in the Banking-Financial Centre “Nowy Świat” in Warsaw.
